In many parts of the world, a lot of people lack the luxury of being able to attend college for a variety of reasons; ranging from the lack of finance to cultural, and also, religious values.
While most people that were never able to pursue a higher education were left without a choice, others deliberately chose not to advance their academic life towards acquiring a college degree. They decide college is never meant for them, and choose rather, to chase their dreams.
If you find yourself in the situation of being unable to attend college because of a financial lack or some other reasons, here are 3 exceptional ways to make money without a college degree:
1). Become An Expert In A Field:
Are you good at fixing things? Do you have a knack to always ensure your surroundings remain clean no matter what? Do you have an automobile repair experience? Can you write computer code? How active are you on social media?
One way to create a revenue stream for yourself is to look within. Identify the unconscious activities you normally do that could also make you some money, and hone those skills to perfection.
A person who’s addicted to cleanliness could easily start up a home & corporate cleaning service. A person with programming experience or knowledge, can start up a web or mobile application development firm in partnership with someone who’s experienced in business development. A social media addict could also start up a social media management firm.
By studying yourself and identifying your strengths, you can then research if people with the same skills as you make money through them, and how.
2). Build A Product:
Many of the world’s billionaires and millionaires attained their financial status by solving a problem people experience. These could be through writing a book, building web applications, hardware devices, or simply products that make the lives of their users easier.
A great example of a person who built a successful multi-million dollar business in Nigeria without using his college degree to get a job first, is Nnamdi Ezeigbo, the founder of the largest Nigerian mobile phone and accessories retailer, Slot Systems Limited. From starting out as a computer repairer, Nnamdi launched Slot, and has grown it to be the largest mobile phone and accessory retailer in West Africa, and his Tecno and Infinix phone brands are now the fastest selling mobile devices in the Nigerian market.
By building a product that solves a problem, is more affordable than the existing options, and adds true value to the users lives, you can grow a profitable business, even without a college degree.
3). Run An Online Business:
The wide proliferation of the internet has made it possible for almost anyone to launch an online business within 24 hours. From trading on online marketplaces, to freelance writing, blogging, and even launching an online store, time has shown that anyone with a college degree or not, can start up an online business and turn out a remarkable success.
A great example of an exemplary entrepreneur who started an online business without a college degree is Sophia Amoruso, the founder of Nasty Gal, a women fashion retailer. She started selling items online at eBay while she worked at an health insurance coy. By 2008, she was kicked off eBay and launched Nasty Gal, which has today grown to be worth well over $100 million dollars.
The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, on Friday disclosed that the Federal Government has started putting in place measures that will lead to economic recovery.
Ahmed, while speaking at the European Union-Nigeria business summit said the process will see the country’s economy grow by three percent in 2017.
According to the junior Minister, Nigerian government is determined to use the current economic challenges to reform the country’s economy to a sustainable growth.
She said,“My colleague, Senator Udo Udoma and I, were supposed to be here yesterday, but we are conducting at this moment a retreat for developing a new medium term, national economic plan that we call the recovery plan.
“As you know, the country is in a recession; high unemployment rate, high inflation rate, and the result of where we are today is that we are managing three major shocks.
“Crude oil price fall, fall in production, as well as the weakening of our currency. These negative developments have caused some terrible consequences in form of the insurgency activities in the Niger-Delta region as well as the terrorist activities in the north-eastern part of Nigeria.
“The consequences of this have been dire in terms of human lives, the local economy as well as social economic lives and the environment.
“It is my believe that the measures we have taken so far will in no distant future yield desired results, and in this wise, we have targeted a real GDP growth of three percent and four percent by the years 2017 and 2019.
“The government, we have started, just yesterday, a planning process for a new economic recovery plan spanning four year; 2017 to 2020. This plan will outline the growth trajectory over the medium term, and lay a solid foundation for structural reform of our economy.
